It's the time of year here in New Mexico when dedicated foodies become a tad frantic--everything comes in at once, you see--the tomatoes, zucchini, beans, chard, corn, apples, peaches, chiles, melon, grapes, it's all ripe at once here in the Land of 25-30 Degree Difference Between Day and Night. Yeah. Those cool evenings even in summer make it tough to experience luscious garden veggies in orderly fashion.
So we're baking pies, and crumbles, making fruit sauces, freezing everything, roasting chiles, and eating like mad. ( And mailing sacks of chiles to "green or red"-homesick friends in the Bay Area.)
(The pic is from crafterscommunity.com--CC insists that anyone with nothing else to do can create this colorful cornucopia from "salt dough.")
