Feeding the Ground Gamers in PA

In the final three days of the Presidential campaign in battleground state Pennsylvania,  Obama field people opened an office in Buckingham Township,  not far from another longer-established Obama HQ in Doylestown, the county seat. Combined, these represented maybe 25,000 citizens in Bucks County, a place typically described as "upscale."  Wc_chili-1bowl

The Buckingham space and everything that went into it was swiftly donated. During the intense hours of the Get Out The Vote sprint to the finish, the locals offered up 1500 meals to visiting volunteers, mostly from New York and the metro area. A particularly large delegation of young people arrived from Brooklyn.

A family member who donated her time as well as her folding tables recalled how swiftly the food rolled in---quality food---from tasty meatballs to vegetarian chili. ( Another, who lives in Brooklyn, was a tad taken aback that her home county was viewed as "iffy" and required such a final effort.)

Once the votes were counted, Obama-Biden had won Bucks by a comfortable 28,500 vote margin. ( Pennsylvania was Blue by 660,000 votes.) The well-fed Buckingham vols, among millions nationwide,  had worked hard  even in upscale  America to make sure the Dems won the day.

My friend in Doylestown, her children and their families all worked their butts off.
They canvassed, fed and housed volonteers. I am sure they and your friends in Bucks. were instrumental in the big O's victory.

Sadly,I was involved only vicariously.

But weren't you head of Krauts Living in Vieusart for Obama?

I wuzz. And the only one with an Obama sticker on the car- well hubby too had one. But would have loved to be in action in Doylestown. Can just imagine ringing redneck door and speaking up for the big O. With my accent! Tried it once in NYC -for McCartey- and was told to go back where I came from. Maybe cooking meals for volonteers? Yeah! Cooking for Obama. Ve haff vays.

Interesting and informative thanks.
