"Hang On, Little Tomato" is the latest CD of the Portland, OR-based group "Pink Martini." Check it out on NPR's website. The title track was inspired by a 1964 Hunt's Ketchup magazine ad....in which the food company urges tomatoes to hang on the vine until they become their juiciest. We are still searching our tomato collection for an image of this ad.
Hunt Foods, later Hunt-Wesson, is now part of ConAgra.
"Martha & Me: A Musical" is a new production slated to be performed this month as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. The two hour show explores the relationship and effect Martha has on her fans, mostly women. Robert Rokiki who compose the words and music says no character playing Martha appears in the play. Instead it's about an obsessed fan who worries about Martha's legal troubles as she prepares a Thanksgiving dinner.
