Merci, friends. You will indeed enjoy the book! ( So says an utterly unbiased friend of ours at Wall Street Journal Europe based in Belgium who has received his copy in advance of St Niklaas...)

Foodie and spouse have once again been on the road, in Central Florida...last night we endured a fresh ( right off the boat) piece of swordfish that Foodie prepared on a hot plate in one of the last of the funky kitchenette motels. Garlic, tomato, olive oil and seasonings...........woof!

Congratulations! Finally out to the public after all your suffering sampling French wonderfoods and wonderplaces. Off to get a couple for gifts and of course one for us...

It's now officially on my Christmas list. Plus, I fired off a memo to the director of the Napoleonic Alliance, a good friend who is both a leading historian and a skilled chef. I'm sure he'll let others in his organization know about it. No shortage of fans of French food history in the Alliance!
